Lovely picture; great original idea.  Good luck with the rest of the project.  I recently drew Katy Manning as Jo Grant.  Nothing original - merely a pencil drawing from a Radio Times photo.

Thank you so much! I think drawing from a photo can be very interesting as well, but it need a lot of patience. I tried to draw from photos too in a while ago, but unfortunately I never had enough patience to finish them.

Finally someone who likes her! She is so underestimated. :(:(

There are quite a lot of people that like her! Just sadly of the people that have watched Classic Who, a lot of them don't know/know very little of Victoria because so much of her time is missing. But people's fondess for her was definitely helped by the discovery of Enemy of the World and Web of Fear, you have no idea how happy I was that they were found, and hopefully more of her episodes will be found in the future.

Yeah she is still underestimated and under-appreciated, but people have got to see more of her in Enemy and Web, and they are understanding better how awesome she is, that she doesn't just scream (and when she does it's mostly to trick people/creatures or is otherwise used against them), like from how she was going to hit the Doctor when she thought he was Salamander, and her looking after Jamie after they were drugged etc, there's so many wonderful moments with her in those serials, and people have got to see more that which is so great.

But yes I adore her, I cosplayed as Victoria at the Doctor Who Official 50th Anniversary Celebration on the 23rd Nov, wearing her Enemy of the World outfit, which I actually picked out before we knew they'd recovered it, and met Debbie Watling who is so incredibly lovely, and had such a great time, made even better by her (and Frazer's) reactions to my costume. I could so easily babble about it.

I'm so jealous of you that you were at the 50th Anniversary Celebration and could met with Debbie and Frazer! Unfortunately I live far away from the UK, I didn't dare to think about to go to there. :(
I actually really like Victoria, but when I checked lists about the top or favourite companions she was always almost in the very end, that's why I thought that there aren't too much fan of her. But I'm glad I was mistaken. :)
I think she is one of the most interesting companion along those who was from the past too. I can easily get a bit angry when I read somewhere that she was just a "queen of screams", because it was clear the whole time that she did it as a trick, as you wrote. Queen of screams was Mel, I think, she was the one who just screamed all the time and did nothing meanwhile just stand in front of the monster. There is a huge difference between her and Victoria.

Ah well that's one advantage of living in the UK. But I was ever so lucky to get tickets for the Celebration at all, let alone ones for the Saturday so I got to go on the Anniversary itself. I couldn't believe my luck to get tickets (for me and a friend, she cosplayed as Liz) we were so happy even just on the way there because we started to see people dressed up - like a little girl dressed as K9, and an awesome Romana II costume. So then actually meeting them (and I met William Russell too) was so freaking incredible and made the day even more incredible and considering I was already really happy that I'd decided to cosplay Victoria, the way both Debbie and Frazer reacted made me feel absolutely on top of the world. (I could tell you a detailed story if you like.)

I know what you mean about the polls, but with those (a) usually it's only one vote per person, and people tend to go for companions who were around longer with those, and (b) I don't think it's usually about people /not/ liking her, even when they go on about her being "queen of screams" I think they tend to still like her, it's just that less people are so aware of her - not everyone bothers to watch in chronological order, or watch everything, or watch any of the recons/the episodes for serials which have some episodes missing, and that way they miss out on her.

She certainly is one of the most interesting, and I too love everything that comes from her being from the past, especially that she works so well with Jamie; the little moments where they bond over not understanding something, or understand each other, or support each other with something just the same, are all so adorable.
I understand your anger over the "she just screams!" comments. All the companions scream, they all get scared, but they don't just scream and cower in the corner, they scream and run like they should do, they scream but push past their fears - and Victoria does all that AND uses her scream as a trick/weapon. I mean there's a quote from one of the novelisations where it has her going "I'll scream." and when they laugh at that she reminds herself that he hadn't heard her scream yet.

Ha yeah Mel's scream irritated me so much, I mean sure she's cute but that scream never felt like a real scream to me. Dn't get me wrong I love her, but indeed there's a big difference between her screams and Victoria's.

I'm curious about the detailed story, you can tell me! I actually plan to move to the UK for a while next month, so I hope I will have a chance to visit some Doctor Who related event too.

Anyway, I hope that in the future they will find more missing episodes with Victoria, it would be a good chance to get to know her too for those who isn't familiar with the classic series at all and belive that the classic hasn't got well written companions. It was pleasing to read that after finding the Enemy and Web a lot of new whovian checked this two episodes out, beacuse every Doctor Who site wrote a lot about it.
At the moment, my fingers are crossed for finding the Fury from the Deep especially, I would like to see so hard to Victoria's hesitation between staying and going, and her goodbyes to the Doctor and Jamie.

Personally that wasn't Mel's scream that irritated me, but the way she coped with situations. Because she didn't run, just stand in one place and scream. I'm sure if she would met a more bloodthisty creature, she would follow Katarina and Adric to the grave.

Well, I booked to get autographs from Frazer and Debbie, and at the event there was a square(ish) section that was fenced off that you had to queue round the edge of to get in (and then get into the individual queues for each actor.) Me and my friend (the one that cosplayed as Liz) walked along the edge of that area to get to the end of the queue, and stopped to the side of the enclosed section where the cast members sat (a series of tables, all with signs above them with their names.) And we were basically about to settle in for the wait, and then the door in the side of the area opens, and Frazer stepped out, looks at me (having seen my Enemy of the World, Victoria costume as I walked past) and goes "I like your Jamie costume." and I, grinning, said "No! It's Victoria!" and he sort of looked really happy and surprised and goes "Oh right, yes! From Enemy of the World!" and then he sort of sticks his head back into the booth and goes "Hey, Debbie." (who was sitting next to him, he was at the end) and was excitedly indicating for her to look ("Look at this!", and I stepped across so that she could see through the door, and she grinned and said it was brilliant, so I told them I'd be coming round to see them, since they were who I was queuing for.

And then when I got round in the queue to see them, first I went to Debbie and she looked so happy to see me again, complimented me on the outfit once more.
And she signed my picture (personalised) saying that it was a really nice shot (This picture.) And she asked me where I'd got my outfit, and I told her I'd found each bit separately from various shops.

And then she told me I'd made her day.

(And my friend said to her "I just wanted to say that we think you're a really great actress" and she looked so (quite astonishingly) surprised and elated and said "really?" and I nodded, grinning and said "obviously!" indicating to my outfit and oh she looked so happy.)

And she asked about seeing the recovered episodes, and I said yeah we'd seen them, loved them, and I was actually getting the Enemy DVD that day, and she seemed really excited/proud. "Oh really?!" And I got a picture with her (which I've still not got round to uploading somewhere with this story.)

And then we went to see Frazer, and I got to the front of the line and he goes "Victoria!" and I sort of laughed and went "Jamie!", and he was really adorable when I gave him my picture (same one as Debbie) for him to sign, 'cause he leant over to her and said "Debbie, would you look at this? Isn't it adorable?" And she said "Yes, I love it, I think it might be my favourite." They were so smiley and adorable, and then Frazer signed it, writing "Jamie" underneath his name. And I got a photo with him too, and he was just so friendly and told me to enjoy the rest of my day (and I said "you too" of course.)
(Also added bonus of Frazer wearing a Second Doctor design t-shirt and a badge with one of his lines "Look at the size of that one, Doctor!" on it.)

I hope they do too, but there's plenty of rumours that a whole load of episodes have been found, and also other people are still actively looking so I personally am very hopeful that more will become available.
It was indeed very nice to see people - Classic fans and those that hadn't really watched Classic before - watch Enemy and Web and say "Victoria's actually awesome."
I would definitely like them to find Fury! For what you said, and for the adorable Jamie/Victoria kiss in the goodbye, also there's the whole thing (which I think is that serial) where Victoria is unconscious, and Jamie is scared that she's really hurt or even dead/dying and he says "If anything happens to you I'll never forgive myself!" and she wakes up and says "Oh, Jamie, I never knew you cared!" and I would just love to see Jamie's face when he tries to pretend he's annoyed. "Victoria Waterfield you tricked you!"

I don't remember if she did stick to the spot like that, if she did it may have been more because although she was scared there wasn't any advantage to run away, or it may not have been something she could control. But either way she has awesome qualities of her own, and she's so adorable.
Don't you know we don't bring up Earthshock?! Besides we all know Adric was secretly beamed out of there and is alive.

Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks for your detailed story. I'm so jealous, they were so sweet! Did you upload the photo and this story to somewhere else so far? Could you send me the link please if yes? I'm so curious about your photo with them and your cosplay. :)

I've heard that rumour about finding a lot of missing episodes, but It seems too great for being real to me. Anyway I checking the DW sites every day and waiting for some good news about it with full of hope.

Haha, sorry about binging up Earthshock. I didn't know. But hopefully Adric is like Clara now, he born, live and die again and again, he is there with all of the Doctors and despairingly trying to make concact with them.
